How many hours have you done?
I’ve done exactly 120 hours
Are you getting driving lesson?
I’ve had two driving lessons but they’re too expensive to get all the time but they’re necessary to know the road rules to pass the test.
Is this a financial strain?
Lessons range between $25 and $100 per lessons which is a lot of money for some people.
Have you been effected by the increase in L-plate hours?
It helped but 120 is too much, it more then doubled and its not practical.
There are plans to increase the mandatory hours to 250. Is a further increase in hours necessary?
No, uni students can be on their L-plates if they really wanted to help they’d put another test between red and green p’s
Is there an alternative to increasing hours?
As well as another test they should have a few compulsory lessons with a driving instructor perhaps subsidised by the government so people aren’t just learning bad habits from their parents.
Are you parents able to take you driving?
I drive to and from places but I have no time specifically to drive, my parents work, I work, I got to school. There’s no time to say yep I’m going driving now.
Why are the laws becoming stricter?
A lot of media attention lately has been about P-plate crashes and everyone seems to be blaming them for deaths on the road so the government wants to look like they’re doing something about it so they’re trying to combat inexperience which is said to be the blame for the crashes.
And are they valid?
I suppose to some degree but people that are good drivers are still going to driver dangerously no matter how much experience they have. And they just make it more difficult for everyone, because no one had the time or money to just drive around with no purpose. And people are always just going to make up their hours.
